Poranit

porous down to the smallest pore

P1 - P5 / P-OX / P-OXS is available in all sizes up to 1,200 x 800 x 10 - 140 mm P-ES is available in all sizes up to 640 x 640 x 30 - 67 mm
Notes on handling Poranit products Machining: When face milling, cutting should be performed in the opposite direction from the outer edge to the middle of the semi-finished product. It is advisable to stop where a further cut into the material is imminent. Excavations should be driven to the edge and in opposite directions to the center. As a rule of thumb, it is advisable to mill inner contours clockwise, but outer contours counterclockwise. The ideal combination for aluminum milling tools is a double-edged cutter with an aggressive bevel and large flutes. The cutting speed should ideally be vc = 250m / min. Do not use cutting and drilling emulsions!

Gluing:

The gap width is <55 µm and is usually not visible in the film.

Mechanical processing: All Poranit products can be grinded and polished. The porosity is not restricted by machining, grinding and polishing. Only a small amount of wax is used for polishing. Poranite with aluminum filler can be processed like conventional aluminum. All DIN standards for thread cuts and core hole sizes apply. Since poranite is porous, its lower density results in lower strengths. Therefore, screw connections that are intended to be detachable several times should be provided with threaded sleeves. If shear or bending forces occur in the surface of a screwed non-positive connection, we recommend elongated holes in the direction of the acting forces. As a torque, we recommend half of the common preload forces and tightening torques that apply to aluminum. Poranit-ES and Poranit-ST are more brittle, harder and have a density that is more than twice as high. Mechanical loads arise there exclusively in the form of pneumatic pressure on a defined area.
